TIMOTHY G. WILLIAMS

Tim attended the University of Southern California where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993, majoring in Social Sciences and Communications with an emphasis in International Relations. Tim then enrolled in law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. He participated in the college’s nationally renowned advocacy programs, and focused his course-work in business litigation. In 1996, Tim earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and became licensed to practice law in Texas. In 1997, he passed the California bar.

Tim has been working in different areas of labor and employment law, among other areas of business law, dating back to law school in 1994. Since graduating from law school, Tim has represented a wide variety of clients in private practice in many aspects of business litigation, ranging from individuals to large corporations. Tim’s practice history has included hundreds of cases in various federal and state courts at trial and on appeal, and in alternative settings such as arbitration, mediation, and state administrative proceedings including the California Labor Commissioner. Since joining Pope & Berger in 1999, Tim’s practice has focused on employment matters. In 2003, Tim became a partner in Pope, Berger & Williams, LLP.

Tim’s practice includes a broad range of employment cases, counseling, and advice. He specializes in wage and hour issues, and has extensive experience in complex class action litigation in courts throughout California. He has a long list of both employer and employee clients. Tim also regularly lectures in employment matters, and authors employment law articles and treatises.

Tim is active in various bar associations, including the State Bar of California and its sections on Labor & Employment, and Litigation. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, and the San Diego County Bar Association. Past memberships have included the Federal Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Association of Business Trial Lawyers, California Employment Lawyers Association, Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and San Diego County Defense Lawyers Association. Tim is also an alumni of the Louis M. Welch Chapter of the American Inns of Court, a nation wide association of judges and lawyers committed to the preservation of ethics and civility in the practice of law.

Tim has achieved the highest possible (“AV”) rating from Martindale Hubbell, the authoritative resource for information on the world wide legal profession. This AV rating indicates very high to preeminent legal ability and very high professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence as established by confidential opinions from both judges and members of the bar. He has also been selected year after year as an employment SuperLawyer, a distinguished award given to only a small percentage of attorneys in certain specialties around the country.

Tim devotes time as a volunteer to local law school functions, bar organizations, and community events. He is a two time marathon finisher, and has completed multiple half-marathon races including those raising money for charitable organizations.
