A New Jersey native, Mark headed west after graduating from Brown University to be a ski bum in Lake Tahoe before enrolling in law school at the University of San Diego. He attended law school at night and by day worked for the County of San Diego. After passing the California bar exam, he took his first job as a lawyer in a small insurance defense practice where he learned the nuts and bolts of litigation. That small practice eventually grew into a twenty-six lawyer firm, Haasis, Pope & Correll, APC.
Since being admitted to the California Bar in 1977, Mark has tried, mediated, and arbitrated cases for individuals and businesses in a wide variety of civil litigation. He is one of the few attorneys in the state of California who has actually tried a wage and hour class action trial to verdict. He has represented clients in the Superior, Appellate, and Supreme Courts of California, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central and Eastern Districts of California. Mark has also served as a court-appointed arbitrator, Judge Pro Tempore for the San Diego Superior Court, and a fee dispute arbitrator for the San Diego County Bar.
Mark holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the authoritative resource for information on the world-wide legal profession. This rating indicates very high to preeminent legal ability and very high professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability, and diligence. He is currently a member of the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association, and Lawyers Club of San Diego.
When he’s not working, Mark is an enthusiast for F1 racing, Special Olympics, Ducati motorcycles, the Beatles, and New Jersey-style thin crust pizza.
